Broadband Voucher Schemes
Financial help available towards faster broadband
The Government has made a commitment to provide UK homes and businesses with access to faster broadband services so that browsing the web, maximising digital technology and keeping in touch with families and friends is easier.
These Schemes are supplier-led and are not administered by Shropshire Council.
Gigabit Broadband Voucher scheme
The Gigabit Broadband Voucher scheme can provide up to £2,500 per business and £500 per household.
Group projects comprising at least one business choose a participating supplier in their area to complete the installation. The supplier will then claim discount vouchers from Building Digital UK (BDUK) against the cost of the connection. If the cost of the installation is more than the value of the pooled vouchers, the beneficiary businesses and residents will need to fund the difference.
The ratio of business to residential vouchers allowed in each group project is 1:10.

Rural Gigabit Connectivity Voucher scheme
In May 2019, the Rural Gigabit Connectivity (RGC) voucher scheme was launched, which offers rural premises experiencing speeds below 30 Megabits per second (mbps) up to £3,500 per small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) and up to £1,500 per household to support the cost of installing new gigabit-capable connections.
The RGC voucher scheme does not require a group scheme or business participation.
