The Connecting Shropshire roll-out is going well, with around 60,000 homes and businesses already able to access faster broadband.

But it might surprise you to hear that despite this progress to date, only around 40% of those households that are able to connect to the new broadband network have actually chosen to do so.

We think this is partly because people assume that, once faster broadband has is available in their area, they’ll automatically get faster speeds without having to do anything. But that’s not the case.

So you might be wondering, how do I get faster broadband then?

If you’re in an Openreach fibre optic broadband area:

Step 1: Check to see if fibre broadband is available to your property by using the checker on the following page: https://www.homeandbusiness.openreach.co.uk/fibre-broadband/when-can-i-get-fibre

Step 2: If fibre broadband is available, because the Openreach network is open to all internet service providers, we recommend that you shop around to get the best deal by using a comparison website, such as: http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/.

Step 3: You’ll then need to contact your chosen internet service provider to make the switch to fibre broadband.

If you’re in an Airband fixed wireless broadband area:

Enter your postcode at https://www.airband.co.uk/ and proceed to order if available.

If it’s not yet available to order, we suggest that you register your interest by entering your postcode on the website at https://home.airband.co.uk/coverage/, and Airband will update you as soon as more information becomes available.
